Information for parents and guardians
We are delighted your child is considering joining the Air Training Corps. This page offers a clear overview of who we are, what we do, and what to expect as your child becomes part of our squadron.

About the 132 (North Berwick) Squadron Air Training Corps
The Air Training Corps is a national youth organisation with its Headquarters at RAF College Cranwell. The UK is divided into Regions, Wings and Squadrons; we belong to South East Scotland Wing, part of the Scotland & Northern Ireland Region.
Although we are closely linked with the Royal Air Force, there is no obligation for cadets to join the Armed Forces. Many do choose RAF, Army or Navy careers; others go into policing, university pathways, apprenticeships, or a huge range of civilian professions. The skills and experiences gained in the Air Cadets benefit every young person, whatever their future plans.
Aims of the Air Cadets:
- Promote interest in aviation
- Foster a spirit of adventure
- Develop leadership and teamwork skills
- Encourage good citizenship

Our staff and your child's safety
Your child will be supported by a team of Adult Volunteers, including Civilian Instructors and Uniformed Staff. All staff:
- Complete formal ATC training
- Hold the required qualifications
- Undergo enhanced safeguarding checks
- Give their time voluntarily
Many were cadets themselves and bring huge enthusiasm and experience to the squadron. If you ever have questions or concerns, the Commanding Officer is always happy to help.

Parents' responsibilities
Getting to and from the squadron
Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring their child travels safely to and from parade nights and activities.
